Benelux Benefit

The Premier GRAND-AM iRacing.com Online Sports Car Series already has the longest title among the multitude of online racing series on the iRacing.com service.  But in the wake of the series inaugural season, it may be time to insert two more words into that lengthy title:  Benelux Club. That?s because Benelux Club?s Dave Gelink and András Király not only took home top honors in the mixed class (Ford Mustang FR500s and Riley MkXX) series, they won their titles going away. To say Gelink dominated the pony car class is an understatement.  After all, the Dutchman took 10 wins in 14 starts and finished in the top five every time out, while notching 8 poles to boot.  Although he didn?t lead all the way (Dylan Sharman, Norbert Rebelski and Dániel Sinka) [...]

Senna apologises for rookie error

Bruno Senna admitted that it was his lack of experience starting a race on full fuel that contributed to him causing a first corner melee in the Belgian Grand Prix. The Brazilian driver, who stole headlines after qualifying at Spa on Saturday when he placed his Renault seventh on the grid, hit Jaime Alguersuari's Toro Rosso under braking for La Source and caused several drivers behind to take avoiding action

Spies: Start did not ruin race

Ben Spies does not believe he would have finished much higher than third at the Indianapolis Grand Prix, even if he had made a clean start. The Yamaha rider started second, but made a poor getaway and was then shuffled back to ninth after being pushed wide by Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso at Turn 4 on the opening lap

Official: Abarth rolling in to Frankfurt with three new specials

Abarth Punto SuperSport

Fiat's performance division, Abarth doesn't have a lot to work with. Just two models, in fact, but that hasn't stopped the Scorpion marque from making the most of the 500 and Punto ranges. Clearly, there's a lot of room for hot-hatch workings. Just take a look at what Abarth has in store for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show.

On the floor of the Frankfurt Messe, Abarth will present three new vehicles. Well, new derivatives or editions of existing vehicles, anyway.

Abarth 500 Cabrio ItaliaHaving sold 1,695 examples of the 695 Tributo Ferrari - the fastest 500 to date - Abarth is moving on to the 695 Competizione. Packing the same 180-horsepower 1.4-liter 16-valve turbo four, paddle-shift transmission, 17-inch alloys and Brembo brakes as the Ferrari edition, the Competizione does away with the Ferrari logos and bridges the gap to the Assetto Corsa but legal for street use.

Next up is the 500 Cabrio Italia to celebrate, once again, the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Underneath the special blue paint job and the folding roof panel is a 160-horsepower turbo four with overboost function and five-speed manual.

Finally the Punto SuperSport takes the existing EsseEsse to new lengths with a 180-horsepower 1.4-liter MultiJet engine, Koni suspension and tricked out interior with Sabelt buckets and Jaeger instruments. You can scope out all three in the high-res image gallery and the press release after the jump, but we'll have more up-close-and-personal shots from the Frankfurt show for you in just a couple more weeks.

Maldonado critical of Hamilton again

Pastor Maldonado has criticised Lewis Hamilton's driving after the McLaren driver crashed out of the Belgian Grand Prix while fighting for fourth position with Kamui Kobayashi's Sauber. Hamilton had executed a pass on the Japanese when the pair made contact under braking for Les Combes at the top of the hill, as Hamilton moved back across to the left to take the racing line. This led to a large accident for the 2008 world champion.
